There are not many wineries that can claim to link their name and history to a single MGA (I am thinking of Elio Altare with Arborina and Aldo Conterno with Bussia). One of these is undoubtedly Borgogno Serio e Battista, whose link with Cannubi is first and foremost visual, given that the winery stands unmistakably right at the top of the hill of the same name, as the first panoramic image well documents.
A central position, therefore, just as central are the plots distributed on the three slopes of the Cannubi hill: Gorat, with western exposure and once also known as Grossa or Cane, from the surname of the previous owner; Nuova, with north-eastern exposure; Battista, with south-eastern exposure. Three very different situations, which nonetheless allow it to adapt, with the right blends, even to the most varied and extreme vintages. More recently, plots have been added in the Albarella, Liste and Perno MGAs.
As for the wines, in recent years with the advent of new generations they have found greater consistency and clarity, without losing their more classic and traditional side. Simpler and at the same time very pleasant is the Barolo Albarella.

  • Additional notes
  • First vintage bottled: 1961.
  • The classic Barolo, also produced in some vintages as a Riserva, is a blend of MGAs Bergera – Pezzole and Perno (the latter entered into the blend from the 2021 vintage. Tthe plot in the MGA Liste is intended for other wines and varieties.
  • The Barolo Cannubi The Truffle Hunters Movie takes its name from the award-winning documentary made by American author-directors Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, which recounts the world of white truffle hunters and their communities in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. A conservation project was then born from the film, also supported through Special Editions of some wines, which aims to protect the wooded areas and forests where the documentary was filmed: thanks to donations received, today the Terre di Tartufi Association owns more than 30 hectares of forest.
  • Coming from MGA Cannubi, the Barolo Riserva del Centenario was produced exclusively in the 1974 vintage to celebrate the farm’s first century of operation.
